Being the diligent person that you are, you have selected the area you want to visit, you know what types of birds you hope to see, and you bought a nice pair of binoculars. However, bird watching clothing is an important aspect of your bird watching experience, so it is important to know the proper bird watching clothing to choose.

Bird Watching Clothing for All Kinds of Weather

Although it is ideal to bird watch on a nice sunny day, some avid birdwatchers will pursue their hobby in any kind of weather, be it rain, snow, or sunshine. If you are the type of person who likes to bird watch in the woods on a crisp autumn day, there are several important things you should wear when it comes to bird watching clothing: sturdy shoes, a sweatshirt or a long-sleeved shirt with a fleece vest, and long pants.

In the woods, especially where birds like to nest, the floor of the forest can be rocky and littered with tree roots and other debris. Thus, it is very important that a birdwatcher wear the right kind of shoes. These can be either a sturdy pear of sneakers with treaded soles, or hiking boots.

In the autumn the weather, depending on where you live, is either comfortably cool or still slightly warm. For cooler weather, wear a sweatshirt. For weather that is slightly warmer, wear a long-sleeved shirt with a fleece vest. Either way, when in the woods it is always important to wear a long-sleeved shirt to protect against bug bites.

Long pants are also a must when bird watching in the woods. Many areas in which birds tend to live involves climbing through prickly bushes, and to avoid getting scratched (as well as getting bitten by bugs or ticks), it is always important to wear long pants for safety.

Also, if you are an avid bird watcher that wants to get as close to the birds as possible, there are various types of camouflage clothing you can wear. Or, you can wear regular clothing, but be sure it contains colors that blend in well with the surroundings of the forest. Whether you are a cautious or an adventurous bird watcher, bird watching clothing should always be comfortable and safe.
