The Best Place for Your Bird Feeder

If you're considering putting a feeder in your yard, you might want to plan out an ideal spot first. There are certain places that will attract more birds than others, and this means you might get to see more as well as a wider variety of species.

The first thing you'll want to consider is the safety of the birds, make sure you place the feeder in a spot that's not near predators, especially cats. If cats find a spot that birds frequent, they will hide behind nearby things and attack the birds.

You'll want to consider yourself as well; you'll probably want it in a place where you can easily see it. You might place it near a window of your favorite room or another spot where it's easy to see and convenient to refill.

Make the feeder a comfortable place for the birds by placing it near a natural shelter like trees or shrubbery. Since birds will need the food most in the wintertime, it's a great idea to place the feeder near evergreens. Make sure that the area where the birds perch is not susceptible to a lot of wind, rain, and snow.

While it's a good idea to have your feeder near a natural shelter, you don't want it to be so close to branches that squirrels and other unwanted visitors will be hopping n for the seeds.

In just a few days, you should have birds flocking to your home, but if you don't see some right away, sprinkle some seeds around the feeder to make them aware of it.
